Our studio

We offer violin and viola lessons to students of all ages, from beginners opening their case for the very first time through to graduating violinists preparing for college auditions. Lessons typically take place at our home in New Brighton in 30, 45, or 60 minute sessions. Students also have the opportunity to perform on studio recitals throughout the year, and are encouraged to take part in advanced ensembles such as GTCYS or MYS. Please contact us below for more information on rates and a free trial lesson!

Studio Recitals

Students take part in our studio recitals throughout the year, where they can play for family and friends as well as listen to their colleagues’ performances. Our recitals take place in the beautiful Nazareth Chapel at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, and piano accompaniment is provided.

Youth orchestra participation and audition preparation

We strongly encourage students to participate in extracurricular youth orchestra programs such as GTCYS or MYS, where they can connect with other young musicians, develop ensemble skills and musicianship, and enjoy playing music spanning a wide variety of musical styles and genres. Our students have had success auditioning for these groups at every level; the experiences we have gained both taking and adjudicating auditions help us to thoroughly prepare students so that they can confidently present themselves in these pressured situations.

How do I find the right instrument?

Finding the right instrument and bow for students growing both physically and musically can be one of the most frustrating yet important tasks in assuring their proper development. A poor fit, whether in size or sound quality, can seriously affect a student’s musical growth. Our years of experience help us guide families through the decisions of where to rent, when to buy, and how to choose the perfect voice for a student’s musical expression. If you are interested in starting lessons for the first time, please contact us before deciding where to rent or buy.
